Weight categories
When we receive air freight rates from our customers, we categorize them into specific weight categories for aggregation. There are currently five weight categories available in Xeneta for shipper rates and three weight categories for airline rates:
Shipper rates:
- +1000 kg
- 500 kg to 999 kg
- 200 kg to 499 kg
- 45 kg to 199 kg
- <45 kg
Airline rates:
- +1000 kg
- 500 kg to 999 kg
- <500 kg
How we assign weight categories
When we receive rates from our customers, we use all the overlapping weight within the weight range to assign it one or more of the available categories.
For example, let's say we receive a rate with the weight range of 250 to 600 kg from a customer. Since this weight range overlaps with two of our weight categories (namely, 200+ kg and 500+ kg), we assign the rate and display it in search results for both of these categories.
As another example, a rate in the 2000+ kg weight range would be assigned to the 1000+ kg weight category in Xeneta.

Weight categories and search
When searching for a rate in Xeneta, it's important to choose the lowest amount of weight you are interested in.
If you estimate shipping between 70 and 300 kg of cargo on a particular trade lane, it's best to choose a weight category in the search options that matches the lowest end of your estimated weight — which in this case would be 45+ kg.
