Contract length
Xeneta aggregates ocean freight rates for both short-term and long-term contracts.
Due to industry specifics, short-term and long-term contracts have different definitions in ocean and air freight.
Here is how we categorize contracts depending on their validity period:
- Short-term — any contract that is valid for less than 32 days
- Long-term — any contract that is valid for longer than 87 days
To keep rates as comparable as possible, we never aggregate short-term and long-term rates together.
For more information on how contract age and validity affect the rates that you see in Xeneta, see Contract age and Rates and contract validity.
